The doctors found a pain medicine that seems to be the ticket! Yesterday, he ate his first solid food. The smell of BBQ in the room opened his eyes that was for sure. Dennet started getting the food out and Drew started eating. BBQ is his ultra favorite. He ate chicken, then famous Memphis "pulled pork," then brisket, then beans, then fudge brownine pie. Things were definitely looking up. It was amazing to see how food make him so much stronger. He slept really well last night, too. We were able to turn the light on in the room this morning for the first time, too. That was huge.
Now, we are praying and waiting for seizures. Sounds sort of funny to be praying for seizures, but that is what the doctors need!

Great News! Thanks for sharing the positive update. Your family is in our hearts and prayers all the time. We miss you guys and are looking forward to having you back in Austin. Love, Raina
That sounds great Catherine! How/why y'all bothered sending me a b'day card is beyond me with all y'all are going through, but thank you very much; it arrived exactly on my b'day. Now I will continue to pray for Drew's total recovery. I just ordered a refill of my lifelong anti-seizure Rx, Depakote (haven't had one since '93/ knock on wood). Love, Chip
Great news, Cat!!
We will pray for continued comfort and scheduled seizures. We love you!!
Much love,
Susan
C. - this is great news! I will now redirect my prayers in the hope that the seizures come and the doctors are able to get all they need in a quick manner. Drew is so blessed to have you, Dennet & Morgan -- your optimistic attitude is such a gift. I pray that God puts a blanket around each of you. Hang tight ~D.
We thank God for the great BBQ found only in Memphis! We pray for the detection of Drew's seizures to come quickly and clearly for the doctors. We continue to read in Hebrews about entering God's rest and hope that "rest" is exactly what you all get this weekend. Please tell Drew that we miss him terribly!
With Much Love,
His Ready for School to be Out Classmates
